We all have a bucket list. A never-ending compilation of the places in the world we are dying to see and explore.
But for some (guilty), that list is longer than most.
Over the last few years, I’ve been fortunate enough to see my fair share of the world - Having set foot in 40 out of 50 states and 11 countries and counting.
But despite that, I’ve barely made a dent in my never-ending “to do” bucket list.
In fact, there are a couple places on my list that most people are surprised to hear I’ve never been to…
That’s why, today, we’re going to riff off of the popular “Never Have I Ever” game as I share my list of places I’m ashamed to say I haven’t visited…(yet!)
Never Have I Ever Been to…China
Not only is the Chinese civilization one of the oldest in the world, it is also biggest hole in my travel resume.
A lot of people are shocked to hear I have yet to make my way to the most populous country in the world.
Not for a lack of interest, mind you! I have dreams of getting to walk along The Great Wall of China – arguably one of the most impressive man-made structures. The stars just haven’t aligned for my travel plans just yet.
Never Have I Ever Been to…India
India is the one place I get asked about the most.
Despite attracting millions of travelers from all over the world, this is still a popular destination I’m ashamed to say I haven’t been to.
I am always envious of other travel bloggers who share the experiences in this culturally-rich country. Be it mountains or plains, beaches or backwaters, wildlife tours or adventure activities, secluded islands or bustling metropolitans, culinary delights or local drinks, spiritual holidays or romantic vacations, I am always left in awe of this country.
Thankfully, while not set in stone, it looks like I will be getting my chance to visit in the early half of 2018!
Never Have I Ever Been to…Russia
Russia is approximately 1/6 of the Earth’s land mass and I haven’t been there.
As a lover of history, I literally ache to get the chance to walk around the streets, churches and museums that Russia has to offer.
Russia is one of those countries I feel, in fact I know, that I would want to spend an extended period of time in to really absorb everything it has to offer.
And that’s a big part of the reason why I have yet to make it to the largest country in the world.
Never Have I Ever Been to…Ireland
Ireland is a place of unique culture, breathtaking scenery, delicious food, friendly locals, traditional music, rolling hills and incredible history.
With its vibrant green hills, rugged coastline, and medieval castles, Ireland had topped my bucket list for as long as I can remember.
After missing my chance to visit the “Emerald Isles,” during my time studying abroad, I haven’t been able to make any concrete travel plans stick until recently.
I’m happy to say that I will be able to check this popular destination off my list later this year!
Never Have I Ever Been to…The U.S. Virgin Islands
Sandy white beaches, gorgeous blue skies, and crystal-clear water. What’s not to love about the U.S. Virgin Islands?
I can almost imagine myself relaxing on the beach for a few hours and then walking quaint downtown streets to do a little shopping, gorging on scrumptious food at every turn.
These are the beaches that travel magazines are made of and I still haven’t been there. Not for a lack of trying, mind you. Back in the later half of 2016, I had everything planned – tickets purchased, hotels booked, the works. Then I got the flu.
I’m still waiting for my chance to rebook this trip every chance I get, so I keep my fingers crossed that it will happen sometime this year! So make sure to stay tuned on this one.
